I was in San Francisco -mainly Burlingame- for two weeks. I cannot say that I know the city, but definitely love it. The weather -compared to Los Angeles much more cooler-, people -much more happier and/or nicer- even though living expenses are higher-, and you can literally walk in the city without getting bored and you don't have to have a car to enjoy the city. Last part is really important to me because I don't drive and somehow I am still alive in Los Angeles.
Anyway, 3 days ago we "drove" to San Francisco -15 minutes drive from where we live- and decided to have our dinner in "Little Italy." We had discovered that area during our long walk in the city, right after we visited Chinatown.
This time a little shop -almost- around the corner caught our eyes. Not only because of this:
But also this:
The place is called "Mara's Italian Pastry." There's is nothing fancy about the shop, everything looks pretty simple - old fashion pastry shop, but somehow inviting, especially cappuccino. Full tummies + cold evening screamed for those cappuccinos.
I wanted to try cannoli, but they were already filled with custard and looked not-so-fresh to me, so I had some custard filled-puffy pastry (I don't know if they had a one-word-name) and my bf had an eclair. They didn't look fresh, but it was better than I expected. I am sure when they are fresh, you can die for it if you love dessert.
I was holding an outside table, so I didn't see, but according to my bf, the guy who took the orders were rude. However, at that time, he was the only one in the store who served and took the orders and everything and the shop was full of customers. We had decided to forgive his behavior for next visits and sipped our delicious cappuccinos and warmed ourselves.
Would I go there again? Yes! Cappuccinos were delicious, desserts were not so bad. There are sooooooo many things to choose. I guess the problem is there, everything looks so tired.
P.S. Photos were taken with my phone's camera, so they look little dark.
